Fight Direction & Stage Combat |
Welcome to Rapier Wit, Canada's oldest continuous stage combat school and production company. Rapier Wit was founded in Toronto, Canada by Daniel Levinson in 1991, and established its first permanent studio in 1996. Rapier Wit’s goal is to promote action-motivated theatre and the art of stage combat by training actors, stunt people, directors, and stage management in the art of theatrical violence. We do this through structured and unstructured classes, fight direction and choreography, special workshops, various productions and our comic fight troupe, The Rude Mechanicals. Stage combat training is a must for performers who want to participate fully in today’s physically challenging theatre, film or television. Rapier Wit offers artists the grounding they need to safely and effectively portray simulated violence, strengthen character choices, develop stronger intentions and, ultimately, to tell the story. We encourage our peers in the artistic community to use Rapier Wit as their stage combat resource. We are based in Toronto, Canada, but are happy to work throughout Ontario or wherever we may be needed. If you are looking for a fight instructor, fight director, or choreographer, please don't hesitate to contact us! Rapier Wit is proud to be a member of TAAS (Toronto Association of Acting Studios). For more information on TAAS, go to http://www.torontoactingstudios.com. |
